Website updates

The site is coming along better then expected. All the plugins I’ve introduced so far are performing the tasks they’re supposed to do and doing so with stability, which definitely isn’t always the case in web development. The Facebook integration is the only area I’ve not nailed 100% yet, but I think the main reason behind that is learning and implementing it after I’d been awake for nearly 3 days.
I’ve also decided I’m going to invite some of our long time 3EG friends to join up and start contributing to the site to effectively ‘start the community up’ and basically live beta test the network. I’d like to get about 5 artists, 5 bands and 5 regular punters to sign up and start using the network and to provide feedback on stability and useability, plus provide input into the types of things they would like to have on the site to enhance it.
If this goes well, the plan will be to get these users to invite a few more people to the network to ‘put more load’ on the siteĀ to effectively expand the site beta testing. By gradually expanding the users/testers like this, we’re starting the site like a virus. Because the nature of this site using tools like the Facebook Like button, it’s inevitable that once there are people using this site, it will grow itself via these users own friend base.
Doing this in a 100% live environment is risky but necessary. We need our beta testers to embrace the site as they would if they were starting a new Facebook or Myspace account, knowing that what they’re doing is live and available to the public. Without that being the case, and with all respect to our friends, people don’t get as interested to help out, and as we’re not rich company that can employ testers and focus groups, this is the only quality solution we have.
